This month's walk is at the Cedar Bog Trail in Birds Hill Park, a trail that is very friendly for winter walking! Please see below for more information. Please note that due to weather, we have changed the date for this event from February 22 to the following Wednesday, March 1st.
Google Maps Trailhead Location
11:30 am - Meet at the trail head, play games and have an opening circle
12:00 pm - Let's set out on the trail! We'll sing trail songs, have a scavenger hunt, feed the birds and enjoy each other's company in nature!
1:30 pm (approx.) - Arrive back at the parking lot for closing circle
This trail is populated with many chickadees and songbirds, some of whom are so comfortable with the gentle human visitors to the trail that they will eat birdseed from your hand! Consider bringing some birdseed along to experience this! We will also bring some to share :)
Please bring enough water for everyone in your group, as well as a bagged lunch/snack if you wish. Make sure everyone in your group is prepared for a 1.5 hour walk and that everyone remembers appropriate clothing for winter weather: warm mitts, boots, socks, hats, scarves, snow pants/double layers of pants, etc.
Please note that kids must be accompanied by a caregiver.
GEDREC is a rural non-profit founded and run by volunteers. For this event a $5 - 10 donation per family group is recommended to support GEDREC, though not required. We'll be happy to see you there!
